Transform your old chimney breast
The Metro 80XT Eco Wave balanced flue gas fire is the smallest model in the Metro range. With a width of 80 cms, it fits a Class 1 chimneybreast. The burner spreads the flames across the entire width and depth of the fire, while the tall glass window provides a much higher flame picture than ordinary gas fires.

GAS, A WISE CHOICE NOW AND IN THE FUTURE
Gas has been a much-discussed fuel in recent years. Gas prices are rising. And more and more (newly built) homes no longer have a gas connection at all. Why would you even choose a gas fire? Well, a gas fire is still a very sustainable, future-proof choice. Even without a gas connection, a DRU gas fire offers year-round possibilities. Discover them here!
WHAT DOES IT COST TO RUN A DRU GAS FIRE?
Only £0.87 per evening
Calculating the consumption of a specific running fireplace? Below an example for the DRU Convexo Eco Wave*. We calculate the costs per hour and per evening, assuming 4 hours of usage. You can apply this calculation to any gas fire:
Low flames:
Output 2.1 kW * £0.103 = £0.21 per hour. Per evening: £0.87
Eco Wave (recommended):
Output 3.4 kW * £0.103 = £0.35 per hour. Per evening: £1.40
High flames:
Output 4.7 kW * £0.103 = £0.48 per hour. Per evening: £1.94
*Based on current prices of the Energy Price Guarantee Tariff for gas (excluding Gas Standing charges) set to £0.103 per kWh (January 2023).
BENEFITS OF A GAS FIRE
- Gas only heats where needed
Local heating, such as from a fireplace, is the most efficient form of heating. After all, you only heat the space you live in.
- Efficient combustion
Our gas fires are also very efficient. Up to 90% goes directly into the living room... so very little is lost.
- Sustainable gas
DRU gas fires are suitable for all sustainable types of bottled gas in addition to natural gas, such as biogas (methane and propane). Biogas is renewable energy, so no fossil fuels are used.
Besides being greener, with bottled gas you are also not dependent on the gas network. You manage your own supply and therefore always in control of your consumption and costs!
